Senior Node.js and AWS Developer – Data Engineering Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Node.js and AWS Developer with strong expertise in cloud-native application development, microservices and AWS-based data engineering solutions.

The selected candidate will design, develop and support scalable Node.js applications while also contributing to data pipelines, data lake architecture, event streaming and data-processing solutions using services such as Amazon S3, AWS Glue and Amazon MSK.

This position requires strong practical experience in designing production-grade systems, selecting appropriate AWS services and troubleshooting application and data-processing issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and support RESTful APIs, microservices and event-driven applications.
  • Design AWS-based solutions using services such as Lambda, EC2, ECS, API Gateway, S3, Cloud Front and Elastic Load Balancing.
  • Develop and maintain data lakes using Amazon S3 and related AWS services.
  • Build ETL and data-processing workflows using AWS Glue.
  • Develop streaming and messaging solutions using Amazon MSK, Apache Kafka, SQS, SNS or Event Bridge.
  • Process structured and unstructured data from multiple internal and external systems.
  • Design reliable and reusable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.
  • Implement logging, monitoring and alerting using Amazon Cloud Watch and distributed tracing tools.

  • Apply security best practices using IAM roles, AWS Secrets Manager, KMS, security groups and AWS WAF.

  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and architecture decisions.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure deployments using tools such as Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Cloud Formation or AWS CDK.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across applications, data pipelines, databases and AWS infrastructure.
  • Mentor developers and promote development, security and cloud engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Eight or more years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on development experience with Node.js.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
  • Strong practical experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience with Amazon S3-based data lakes.
  • Experience developing ETL workflows using AWS Glue.
  • Experience with Amazon MSK or Apache Kafka.
  • Understanding of event-driven and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda, EC2, ECS, API Gateway, Cloud Watch, SQS and SNS.
  • Experience with SQL and No

  • Strong understanding of API security, authentication and authorization.
  • Experience with Docker, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to analyze production problems and recommend scalable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Developer, Solutions Architect or Data Engineer certification.
  • Experience with AWS Lake Formation, Athena, Redshift or EMR.
  • Experience with Kafka consumer groups, partitions, schema management and retry strategies.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum development teams.
  • Experience with AWS Dev Ops tools like Terraform, Cloud Formation or AWS CDK.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality and data cataloging.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior hands-on developer who can build Node.js applications while also understanding how application data is collected, streamed, transformed and stored within AWS. The candidate should be comfortable making technical design decisions and explaining why a specific AWS service is appropriate for a business or technical requirement.

Experience
  • Overall software development experience: 8+ years
  • AWS cloud experience: 4+ years preferred
  • Data engineering or data-platform experience: 3+ years preferred
