Role DescriptionThe Software Engineer role at Meridian is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY. In this role, the engineer designs, builds, and maintains backend systems and services that power AI-driven products, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, maintainable code, implementing APIs, integrating data sources, and collaborating with product and AI teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
The role also involves participating in code reviews, improving development processes, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure smooth operation of customer-facing systems. Engineers are expected to contribute to architectural decisions, documentation, and continuous improvement of the overall software stack.
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience shipping production-quality code.
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs and services.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their application in modern codebases.
- Experience with Python, Type Script and relational or No
SQL databases. - Comfort working in Linux-based environments, using version control (Git) and standard development tooling.
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional team, communicate clearly, and take ownership of projects from design through deployment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience with AI/ML systems or data-intensive applications is a plus.
