Full Stack Developer, Software Engineer, Backend Developer
Location: New York
Hiring:
Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack (Hybrid - NYC)
A fast-growing fintech startup modernizing the $30T fund administration industry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join a tiny team alongside the CTO and principal engineer. This isn't a "pick a ticket" role - you'll own entire verticals end-to-end, from data model to API to UI to deployment.
What you'd be building:- A real-time calculation engine for allocations, NAV, and capital accounts - every number ties out to the cent
- Full lineage on every figure, traceable back to its exact source
- Durable workflows orchestrating LLM agents, deterministic validators, and human sign-off
- Production money movement - bank connections, payment rails, automated reconciliation
- An automated audit layer that continuously checks the books for drift and misattribution
- A semantic "ontology" model that generates the platform's types, auth rules, and graph schema
- Authorization modeled as live graph queries over the fund hierarchy
- The web, mobile, and agentic Excel surfaces clients use daily
- 8+ years as a true engineering generalist
- Deep Type Script across the stack (React front-end, GraphQL/gRPC services)
- Experience building systems where money has to reconcile - payments, billing, ledgers
- Comfort with complex, deeply hierarchical, versioned data
- Real distributed-systems chops - idempotency, retries, durable execution
- Daily hands-on use of AI, with production LLM experience behind real guardrails
- AWS/Kubernetes architecture ownership
founding engineer experience, time at a top-tier fintech (Ramp, Addepar, Square, Revolut-caliber), or shipped AI-native products with real adoption.
Comp:$200K-$250K base + competitive equity + full benefits (health, vision, dental, 401k). Three days onsite in NYC.
Backed by top-tier investors, built by veterans from places like Bridgewater, Meta, IBM Watson, and Elemental Cognition - this is a rare shot to help rebuild an industry that still runs on spreadsheets and PDFs.
