Member of Technical Staff Intern, AI Systems

A 12-week paid internship building real pieces of the Orcher control plane.

This is not a shadowing programme. Interns own a scoped, real piece of work: an evaluation harness, a ledger export path, a policy simulation tool, or a routing analysis that appears in published research.

You will be paired with a senior engineer, review code with the team, and present your work at the end of the term. Strong interns are offered full-time Member of Technical Staff roles.

Terms are available in summer and, by arrangement, during the academic year.

• Own a scoped project with real users inside the control plane, routing, or evidence stack.
• Write production code with tests and participate in code review.
• Instrument and measure your own work rather than assuming it helped.
• Document what you built so it outlives your term.
• Present findings to the team at the end of the internship.

• Strong programming ability in Python, Type Script, Go, or Rust.
• Solid computer-science fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, and systems basics.
• Evidence of building something substantial — coursework, open source, research, or personal projects.
• Curiosity about AI governance, evaluation, or distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently between check-ins and to ask for help early.

• Prior internship, research assistantship, or significant open-source contribution is welcome but not required.
• No professional experience is required; we evaluate what you have built.

• Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD programme in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Recent graduates and career changers with a strong project portfolio are also considered.

• Paid internship with a housing stipend for New York-based terms.
• Direct mentorship from a senior engineer and weekly time with the founder.
• Hardware provided and compute budget for evaluation work.
• Named credit on any research your work contributes to.
