Lead Software Engineer

Genworth is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive design and delivery of secure, scalable software powering our insurance and financial products. You will lead a team of engineers, set technical direction, and build cloud-ready, API-driven solutions that support long-term care and protection offerings. Partnering closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders, you'll translate complex financial requirements into robust systems, champion engineering best practices, and ensure performance, reliability, and security in a collaborative, inclusive environment focused on continuous improvement and customer impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable financial software solutions for insurance products
• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and CI/CD processes
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to refine requirements
• Ensure application security, performance, and reliability for mission-critical systems
• Drive cloud-native and API-first designs that integrate with enterprise platforms
• Oversee technical design documents, estimates, and sprint planning
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead root-cause analysis
