Senior Software Engineer, AI Litigation Workflow

This is a 12-month contract position for a Senior Software Engineer based in Manhattan, New York, focused on AI-powered litigation workflow applications. You will design, develop, and maintain reliable software systems, integrate applications with search platforms and databases, and contribute to the architecture of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems serving the legal technology domain.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software applications and services
• Integrate applications with search platforms and databases
• Contribute to the design of scalable, fault-tolerant, and maintainable distributed systems
• Write clean, well-tested, and production-ready code
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions
• Investigate production issues and improve system monitoring, reliability, and performance
• Collaborate with engineers to reuse common platforms, services, and engineering standards

• Required
  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience using Java and Spring
  • At least 3 years of experience working with relational databases, including PostgreSQL or Oracle
  • Experience writing SQL and designing or working with relational data models
  • Experience building and supporting production software applications or services
  • Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
  • Experience developing APIs or integrating with service-based architectures
  • Familiarity with automated testing, debugging, and production support
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Preferred
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, code review, debugging, and documentation
  • Experience with Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience developing Python-based data processing, machine learning, or AI applications
  • Experience working with search engines, document retrieval systems, or content-processing pipelines
  • Experience designing scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems
  • Experience building systems that process large volumes of structured or unstructured documents
  • A strong commitment to automated testing, code quality, and operational excellence
