About Axle
Axle is building the intelligent infrastructure for how capital moves on Wall Street.
Trillions of dollars in institutional capital get directed through a web of relationships, meetings, and decisions that still run on spreadsheets, email chains, and tools built over a decade ago. This is the layer where markets actually move, and we're at the forefront of rebuilding it.
We have replaced all of it with one platform, powered by AI agents that strip out the manual work and give bankers strategic leverage. Axle is quickly becoming the operating system for Wall Street's most important relationships.
The investment banks already running on Axle treat us as mission-critical, and we are just getting started. The problems we work on are high-stakes, data-dense, and critical to how markets function.
Our founding team blends Wall Street experience with engineering excellence, drawing on backgrounds at firms like Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, AWS, and Capital One. We lived the problem firsthand and built the platform we wished existed. Our tight-knit team in NYC is backed by top-tier VCs and former leaders from JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Citadel.
About the roleInvestment banks run their most visible client-facing activity on Axle. When a bank goes live with us, it works because someone owns the path from ambiguity to production.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you sit at the intersection of engineering and the customer. You embed with the world's largest financial institutions, learn how they actually operate, and turn that understanding into working software: integrations, data migrations, identity, and the connective tissue that makes Axle feel native inside their environment.
This is a hands‑on engineering role with real customer ownership. You write code, you ship it, and you see it create value in weeks, not quarters.
What you'll do- Own enterprise launches end to end. Lead strategic implementations from technical discovery through production and stabilization. You are the technical owner of the account.
- Turn ambiguity into architecture. Take messy, evolving requirements from operations, technology, and security teams and turn them into crisp plans, decisions, and working systems.
- Build the last mile. Design and ship integrations across CRMs, data platforms, APIs, and file-based pipelines — you write the code that connects Axle to each customer's world.
- Move data with confidence. Run migrations from legacy platforms, define data contracts, validate quality, and get customers to sign‑off with evidence.
- Earn trust with enterprise stakeholders. Run technical meetings independently and explain complex systems clearly to both engineers and non‑technical leaders.
- Make it repeatable. Turn what you learn in the field into playbooks, patterns, and product feedback that make every future launch faster.
- An engineer who likes customers. You want your work measured in customer outcomes, not tickets closed.
- Calm under ambiguity. You structure messy work, make sound calls without waiting for permission, and keep momentum across customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- A clear communicator. Your writing is tight, your meetings have owners and dates, and stakeholders leave knowing exactly what happens next.
- Relentlessly hands‑on. You architect the system, write the code, and dig into the problem yourself when something breaks.
- 4+ years in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, or a similar customer‑facing technical role.
- A track record leading complex enterprise implementations with multiple stakeholders and external dependencies.
- Deep integration experience: REST APIs, event‑driven patterns, auth flows, sync and reconciliation patterns, SFTP,…
