Senior Technical Specialist

Seeking an experienced Shell Script and C Developer with strong expertise in C-Shell (csh), Korn Shell (ksh), and C programming to support the migration and modernization of a large-scale financial application environment. The role involves refactoring and enhancing existing Linux-based batch processing scripts and C applications, integrating with SQL Server databases, supporting file-processing workflows, and ensuring the reliable operation of enterprise data pipelines.

The environment includes Linux scripts, C-based utilities, enterprise batch jobs, Informatica integrations, and large-scale data processing workflows.

• Analyze, port, and refactor existing C-Shell (csh), Korn Shell (ksh), and C programs as part of the SQL Server migration initiative.
• Modify Linux batch processing scripts and C-based applications to connect and interact with SQL Server databases.
• Develop and enhance automation solutions for data loading, extraction, validation, reconciliation, and batch processing activities.
• Analyze, maintain, and modernize legacy C applications supporting backend business logic, file processing, and operational workflows.
• Support execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting of batch jobs, file-processing workflows, and production support activities.
• Create shell scripts to execute, schedule, and manage Informatica workflows and related data processing jobs.
• Develop and maintain C modules and utilities that integrate with shell scripts, databases, and enterprise processing frameworks.
• Work closely with database, ETL, infrastructure, and application teams to support migration, integration, and modernization initiatives.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and root cause analysis for shell scripts and C applications.
• Participate in SIT, UAT, deployment, and production rollout activities by resolving script- and application-related defects.
• Maintain technical documentation for scripts, C programs, scheduling processes, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise standards for automation, logging, error handling, monitoring, security, and operational support.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and maintainability of batch processing and data integration workflows.

• 8+ years of experience in Linux/Unix development and support.
• Strong expertise in Shell Scripting (C-Shell/csh and Korn Shell/ksh).
• Strong programming experience in C language on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Experience developing and supporting batch processing and file-processing workflows.
• Proficiency in Linux tools and utilities (gcc, gdb, make, sed, awk, grep).
• Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning of shell scripts and C applications.
• Knowledge of Cron/job scheduling and enterprise automation frameworks.
• Experience with Git/version control and SDLC processes.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server connectivity, SQL execution, and data validation.

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
