• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with distributed compute environments, software development, big data analytics, cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi-tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems, or content delivery networks.
• Experience with software development in C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or Go.

• Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, and experience with compute technologies, storage, and hardware architecture.
• Experience with Google-scale infrastructure.

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

We build and maintain data protection capabilities that integrate across Google's storage, data processing, and AI stacks. Our infrastructure provides fine-grained policy enforcement, access filtering, and guardrails for data handling systems and emerging AI workloads. By building friction-free, standardized protections directly into foundational platforms, we help engineering teams across Alphabet launch and iterate on products quickly while maintaining high security and privacy standards.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers, and strengthen existing systems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

$207,000 - $300,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
