Overview

Physical Education and Fitness Instructors position at Colgate University.

• Develop and teach 10‑hour wellness courses in areas such as Nutrition, Mental Wellness, and fitness sports.
• Create course descriptions, syllabi, and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Enforce university, departmental, and recreation facility policies and conduct classes professionally and courteously.
• Set up classes early, adhere to a 50‑minute time limit, and keep the fitness facility clean and safe.
• Track attendance, cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment, and submit cancellation cards to the PE office.
• Provide basic first aid during class sessions and report serious injuries to safety.
• Turn signed waiver forms into the PE office for all participants and maintain committee work spaces.
• Submit bi‑weekly payroll hours through the Colgate Payroll app and coordinate any schedule adjustments with a supervisor.

• CPR / AED certification required; PERA 1‑2 hour class will be provided.
• Knowledge of Google Drive, iPad use, and fitness certifications preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated commitment to student wellness.
• Physical ability to demonstrate fitness activities and supervise classes.
