ATHLETIC COACH (PART-TIME / TEMPORARY / STIPEND – FTE)
Reports To
Athletic Director, in collaboration with building principal(s)
Position SummaryThe Athletic Coach is a part-time, temporary, stipend (FTE) position responsible for leading and supervising a school athletic program. The coach will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and conditioning while promoting sportsmanship, academic success, character development, and teamwork.
Qualifications- Ability to organize, supervise, and lead an athletic program
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred
- Strong knowledge of technical, tactical, and safety aspects of the sport
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and best coaching practices
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
- Implement athletic department, district, state, and league policies
- Follow proper administrative procedures and communication channels
- Attend required meetings, events, and trainings
- Establish program philosophy, skills, and expectations
- Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff as assigned
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and positive morale
- Mentor student-athletes in skill development, sportsmanship, and character
- Monitor academic performance and conduct
- Supervise athletes at practices, contests, and during travel
- Communicate team rules, safety procedures, and injury protocols
- Assist with scheduling, transportation, and event coordination
- Maintain required eligibility, medical, and consent documentation
- Assist with budget planning and operate within approved allocations
- Maintain inventory, care, and accountability of equipment and facilities
- Conduct preseason meetings with parents and athletes
- Promote the program within the school and community
- Maintain positive relationships with parents, media, officials, and boosters
- This position requires extended hours, physical activity, and risk management
- Community visibility and expectations are significant; student well-being and sportsmanship remain the priority
- Coaches are expected to exercise sound judgment in situations not specifically outlined
