Head Coach – Girls Golf
Job Summary
:
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, PE & Health, the Head Coach instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary to achieve individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must model behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
- NYS SED Licensed Coach or Certified Teacher with CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of golf and a continual desire to explore new theories and procedures.
- Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the District’s Board of Education and responsible for their implementation.
- Knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements and interprets these consistently for staff.
- Understands proper administrative command line and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels, and attends required meetings.
- Facilitates conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program.
- Trains and informs staff and encourages professional growth.
- Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation, and at season’s end analyzes staff effectiveness and assists in the evaluation of all assistants.
- Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the program.
- Performs other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
- Assists the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournaments and special sport events.
- Prepares scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to facility times; coordinates program with maintenance, school employees and Director of Athletics, PE & Health.
- Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
- Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
- Advises the athletic director and recommends policy, method or procedural changes.
- Mentors each athlete to promote trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
- Gives constant attention to a student athlete’s grades and conduct.
- Provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant during practices, games and while traveling.
- Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete considered a participant.
- Administers programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
- Completes paperwork for all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits within 24 hours.
- Contacts parents when a student becomes ineligible.
- Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
- Recommends equipment guidelines for type, style, color or technical specifications.
- Operates within budget appropriations and is accountable for all equipment, collecting cost of any lost or not returned items.
- Arranges issuance, storage and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records.
- Marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
- Monitors equipment rooms and coaches’ offices and authorizes entry and requisition.
- Permits athletes to be in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times.
- Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games for cleanliness; maintains equipment cleanliness and maintenance.
- Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
- Instills respect for equipment and school property, their care and proper use.
- Organizes parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings.
