Job SummaryCapital Preparatory Schools seeks a highly motivated and experienced Athletic Coach to join the team. The successful candidate will provide coaching and guidance to scholar‑athletes in a specific sport, helping them develop skills and reach potential. This part‑time position requires availability during afternoon and evening hours and on weekends.
Key Responsibilities- Follow administrative procedures in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual and applicable policies.
- Develop and implement practice plans to ensure conditioning and training so scholar‑athletes are physically prepared for competition.
- Provide individualized coaching to improve technique, physical fitness, and overall performance.
- Communicate effectively with scholar‑athletes, parents, and other coaches regarding expectations, schedules, and progress.
- Schedule regular practices and attend and supervise all team practices, games, and events.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among scholar‑athletes.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, accurate records, and statistics for team performance.
- Enter grades for all scholar‑athletes.
- Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the league and end‑of‑season checklist.
- Fundraise as required.
- Enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress.
- Oversee training and care of scholar‑athletes.
- For Head Coach: select, supervise, and provide guidance to assistant coaches, monitor and ensure their professional development.
- For Head Coach: conduct performance evaluations for full‑time or part‑time assistant coaches.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports science, or related field preferred; high school diploma required.
- Active certification to coach in the State of New York.
- Experience coaching at the high school level with focus on skill development and player improvement.
- Strong knowledge of the sport, including current strategies, techniques, and trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and inspire scholar‑athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and staff members.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to obtain passenger endorsement and an excellent driving record.
- Position requires weekends, afternoon/evenings, and travel.
This part‑time position is paid by stipend, ranging from $1,500 to $5,000, commensurate with experience. The role may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and physical activity, requiring lifting and moving equipment.
