Position: Work Study-Scholarly Impact and Research Program
Location: New York

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a resource guide for one or more of the SIRP research and scholarship domains.
  • Engage in self-directed learning to attain advanced knowledge in a selected domain.
  • Hold regular meetings with course leadership and the staff biostatistician.
  • Host peer office hours to support students' research-related questions.
  • Maintain a triage system for SIRP support requests.
  • Respond to SIRP-related email inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with faculty domain leads to align on project-based support.
  • Collaborate with technical experts, including informatics faculty, when needed.
  • Review and adhere to institutional policies for leaves of absence.
  • Guide peers in developing learning plans and capstone deliverables.
  • Assist peers in executing and disseminating scholarly research projects.
  • Encourage and advise on career development opportunities related to academic scholarship.
  • Submit time logs and summaries of work performed as required by FWS compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled medical student in good academic standing at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one SIRP research domain (e.g., project design, implementation, analysis).
  • Selected and approved by course leadership based on CV and relevant expertise.

Preferred:
Experience with statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS), informatics, or prior publications.

Encouraged:
Background in computer science, engineering, public health, or related academic areas.

Minimum Salary Range

USD $20.00/Hr.

Maximum Salary Range

USD $20.00/Hr.

ABOUT US

The Student-led Support in Impact for Research Program (SIRP) is a student-driven initiative aligned with the goals of the Impact course. This Work-Study position supports peer-led research advising and academic support for students engaged in longitudinal research and scholarship. Student Assistants will collaborate with course leadership and faculty mentors to deliver research support and mentorship across domains such as Project Design, Data Analysis, and Dissemination.

This role also fulfills Federal Work-Study (FWS) guidelines, with supervision and regular documentation of hours worked.
