Overview

Pioneer Transportation is New York City's premier school bus company. We have over fifty years of experience in student transportation, providing courteous, reliable, and safe transportation services throughout the New York City area. We are actively seeking drivers for our Bronx and Staten Island locations.

Job Type: Full-time.

Work Location:

In person at Pioneer Transportation, 2890 Arthur Kill Road, 10309 Charleston, United States of America.

• Transport students to and from schools (and other locations) in a safe, courteous, and timely manner.
• Maintain a sanitary, safe, and professional environment within the bus (bus operators are provided with matrons / school bus attendants pending route).
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and checks for sleeping children on the vehicle.
• Maintain healthy relationships with dispatchers to communicate conduct, emergencies, or any matters which require supervisory attention.

• 21 years of age.
• New York State issued commercial driver’s license (Class B with P & S endorsements).
• Contact us to discuss options if you need a commercial driver’s license.
• For out-of-state licensees, transfer license to New York State license. Afterwards, provide an abstract from the previous state.
• Required to pass a DOT physical.
• Required to pass drug screening.
• Required to pass criminal background check.
• Veterans encouraged to apply.
• Applicants are eligible to carry over industry tenure for calculating pay rate and benefits.

• $5,000 bonus for Class B CDL Drivers with P&S Endorsements.
• $4,000 bonus for Class B CDL Drivers without Endorsements.
• $3,000 Sign-On Bonus and Training for Non-CDL Drivers.
• Industry-leading pay: $24.45 – $38.67 per hour.
• 39 weeks of guaranteed pay and paid holidays for all drivers.
• Wage accruals (vacation pay) for drivers up to 4 weeks after 5 years of service.
• Additional Christmas or Easter paid wage adjustments after 1 year of service, both after 2 years of service.
• Attendance bonus – 5 additional days of pay.
• Industry-leading medical and pension benefits.
• Opportunity to earn additional pay with extra work during the school year and summer.
• Refer DOE Certified Drivers to Pioneer and receive $1,000 for every driver that is referred.
