Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent, the Caltrans Maintenance Complete Streets Supervisor coordinates and assigns work of employees engaged in the maintenance of Complete Streets facilities (sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike ways) along the State highways. The incumbent reviews and approves work orders, performs site inventory verification and condition assessment of Complete Streets facilities, and enforces safety, health policies, and procedures as contained in the Department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

The incumbent may work overtime or non-standard shifts (including nights, holidays and weekends), respond to emergencies, operate equipment requiring a Class A Commercial Driver's License with tank endorsement, train others to operate such equipment, and supervise employees who operate such equipment. This is a traveling crew and may require travel up to 50% of the time.

Position located at 455 S Lemoore Avenue, Kings County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent. Required to work in a wide range of extreme conditions (heat up to 120 degrees, cold to –15 degrees, strong winds, rain, sleet, snow). Winter schedule is typically 5/8-hour days, with shifts determined by Region Management.

May be scheduled for night shifts, overtime, or emergency work due to storms or other operational needs. Personal safety requirements include: appropriate footwear;
Caltrans-provided safety shirts or safety vests; long pants; and safety gear as required (hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shields, gloves, respirators, chaps, etc.).

Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with P (Passenger/Bus), H (Hazardous Materials), and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements and possession of a qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by Cal-EPA is desirable.
