Air Export Specialist

Job Overview

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is an international supply chain services company. The Air Export Specialist facilitates the movement of products, equipment, and materials out of the country via air freight, ensuring compliance with organizational policy and local, country and international laws.

• Prepare and coordinate necessary documentation for all air export activities.
• Coordinate cargo pick‑up and transfer while monitoring status.
• Communicate with export authorities, customers, and suppliers to ensure efficient, positive, and lawful relations.
• Manage and update carrier and vendor rates and obtain spot rates when necessary.
• Correspond with overseas agents and clients: pre‑alerts, rate requests, shipment status updates.
• Track shipments and inform customers and agents of status.
• Create and maintain customer files; provide invoicing and payable approval.
• Audit files for accuracy and completion.
• Perform U.S. Customs AES filings.
• Manage JAS operational and customer KPIs.
• Assist other departments/divisions as needed.

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience handling air export shipments or equivalent education and expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong organizational skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail‑oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Self‑motivated, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of customs laws, practices, and procedures required.
• Ability to interact positively and effectively with co‑workers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Geographical knowledge preferred.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in freight forwarding industry a plus.
• Cargowise experience a plus.
• Bilingual language skills preferred.
• Knowledge of U.S. export compliance preferred.

Hourly pay range: $27.50 – $31.25, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include dental, vision, health insurance, 401(k), and performance bonuses. In accordance with New York state law, we are committed to providing pay transparency to all job applicants.

Full‑time office‑based position in climate‑controlled environment. Travel may be required. Duties include sitting, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, lifting weights up to 25 lbs, and working in a fast‑paced environment.
