SUMMARY OVERVIEW
The Baggage Handling Agent is responsible for ensuring passenger luggage and cargo are handled safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. This role includes loading and unloading baggage from aircraft and conveyor systems, sorting luggage by destination, and adhering strictly to safety and security standards. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced airport environment under various weather conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Load and unload passenger luggage and cargo on and off aircraft
* Operate baggage handling equipment such as conveyor belts, carts, and trolleys
* Sort and route baggage to the correct flight and baggage claim carousel
* Ensure timely delivery of baggage to and from aircraft
* Inspect baggage for damage or potential security risks and report discrepancies immediately
* Follow all safety procedures and airport security protocols while handling baggage
* Work closely with ground crew and airline personnel to ensure efficient baggage processing
* Maintain cleanliness and organization in baggage handling areas
* Coordinate with security personnel to ensure adherence to airport security measures
* Participate in training sessions on baggage handling procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation
* Coordinate with airline staff for special handling of oversized, fragile, or priority items
* Record and report baggage handling activities in accordance with company and airport regulations
* Support and promote the company's Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
* Report safety hazards, incidents, and near misses in accordance with SMS reporting procedures
* Exceed Prime Flight customer service and safety standards
* Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
* 18 years of age or older
* Eligible to work in the United States
* Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
* Must have a valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record
* Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
* Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
* Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
* Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays

* Specific vision abilities required for this job include:
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
