Looking for a reliable adult driver/care companion for a high school student (Junior) attending a 3-week summer program at Columbia University. The student, almost 16, is also a competitive athlete who needs weekday transportation to figure skating training at Chelsea Piers Sky Rink.
The job would involve picking the student up from the Columbia University campus area on weekdays and driving to Chelsea Piers Sky Rink. Pick‑ups from campus would usually be around 4:00 PM for a 5:00 PM ice time, or around 4:45 PM for a 5:30 PM ice time. Skating ends at 7:00 PM (firm), and the student would then need to be picked up from the rink and driven back to Columbia University.
Responsibilities- Pick up and drop off the student from Columbia University campus and Chelsea Piers Sky Rink on weekdays.
- Ensure timely arrivals for ice time (typically 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM).
- Wait within a close radius (90–120 minutes total) during the training session in case the university needs to verify the student’s safety/location.
- Communicate with the student, the parent, and program staff as needed, including verifying your background/relation to the student.
- Maintain a responsible, punctual, and communicative presence throughout the program.
- Must be 21+ (25+ is preferred due to program standards).
- Valid driver’s license, reliable car, current insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Comfortable with your legal name and phone number being entrusted to Columbia University as the student’s approved/trusted driver for off‑campus transportation.
- Willingness to comply with program safety supervision requirements and to provide contact information if requested.
This position is mainly for transportation and safety supervision, not general babysitting. Looking for someone responsible, communicative, and consistent for weekday training transportation during the program!
