Rolling V Bus Corp offers a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Training Program that allows you to earn while learning by working as a School Bus Aide and training to become a licensed school bus driver. The program provides a pathway to higher earning potential and flexibility once you are licensed.
Training Program Details- Program Structure:
Classes are scheduled every 8 weeks; the company provides both classroom training to obtain a CDL Permit and vehicle/behind‑the‑wheel training to prepare for the road test. - Starting Hourly Rate:
As a bus aide and trainee, you will earn $16.00 per hour for work and training time. The hourly rate increases to $17.00 once you obtain your CDL Permit. - Training
Schedule:
Training sessions (about 2 hours midday) are planned to avoid conflicts with bus aide duties. - Additional hours are available through late runs, midday, or charter trip assignments.
The job for both School Bus Aide and School Bus Driver involves ensuring the safe and timely transportation of children to and from school.

- Application Process:
Completion of the Job Application and New Hire Packet, including all necessary New York State and Federal documents and a background check. - Identification:
Must submit satisfactory forms of identification. - References:
Must provide three references and authorize the company to contact them. - Residential History:
Must provide a history of residential addresses. - Background Checks:
Authorization for a thorough background investigation in line with Federal, State, and School policies. - Pre‑Employment Testing:
Physical and drug/alcohol screening, administered by an independent entity at the company’s expense. - Physical Performance Test:
Demonstrate physical ability such as climbing and descending bus steps, exiting quickly from a seated position, using the rear emergency door for evacuation, and carrying or dragging a 125‑lb weight. - Training:
Initial paid six‑hour pre‑service training; ongoing training may be required for additional skills.
This role is not only about driving; it also requires strong physical capabilities, effective communication, and strict compliance with extensive legal and regulatory requirements.
