Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Local Fleet Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operations, maintenance, and strategic management within a specific geographic area. This position ensures our fleet operates safely, compliantly, and cost‑effectively while supporting operational needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet operations, logistics, and personnel management.
Location: Bronx, NY (Onsite)
Salary Range: $60,000‑$70,000
What you’ll do:
Fleet Operations
- Manage and coordinate all fleet operations, including vehicle acquisition, assignment, maintenance, and disposal
- Monitor vehicle utilization and ensure optimal deployment of fleet assets
- Track and report on key fleet metrics including costs, uptime, compliance, and safety
- Ensure fleet supports operational needs and maintains high availability
Maintenance & Repairs
- Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to maximize vehicle uptime and longevity
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with internal staff and external vendors
- Ensure maintenance effectiveness with focus on PM compliance and reducing breakdowns
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure fleet operations comply with all federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, OSHA, EPA)
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, registrations, and certifications
- Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular driver and vehicle safety reviews
- Monitor accident rates, DOT compliance scores, and driver violations
Cost Management
- Develop and manage fleet budgets with focus on cost per mile optimization
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements
- Monitor maintenance and repair costs to ensure budget compliance
- Negotiate and manage relationships with leasing companies, maintenance providers, and equipment suppliers
- Evaluate and select vendors for parts, services, and equipment purchases
- Ensure vendor performance meets company standards and requirements
What you’ll bring:
- 3+ years experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and DOT/regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities
- Experience with telematics and fuel management systems preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work overtime as needed
