Job SummaryThe Transportation Coordinator is responsible for providing hands‑on customer service and customer assistance for the prompt, effective transportation, clearance, import, export and routing of both domestic and international parcels in accordance with proper procedures for BGS customers. The role functions in an armed environment and enforces rules to protect premises, property, armored vehicles, and the safety of persons.
Key Responsibilities- Receive incoming calls, e‑mails and faxes from customers, Brink’s U.S. branches, affiliates and agents and respond to requests for rates, billing issues and service queries in a timely manner.
- Coordinate daily activities of the Export team and ensure smooth operation with customers, airlines and field locations.
- Interface with Regional Managers to address field office concerns and maintain relationships with customers and overseas affiliates.
- Collaborate with operations staff to determine accurate service capabilities.
- Meet all IATA and U.S. Customs requirements for document generation and cargo handling.
- Prepare and submit service orders, quotations, and paperwork for billing and analysis.
- Maintain and submit required logs, reports and records.
- Handle service concerns diplomatically, escalating to appropriate personnel when needed.
- Determine required paperwork for international moves, including commercial invoices and customs documents.
- Decide whether a courier is needed for a shipment and arrange with the appropriate gateway airport office.
- Respond to inquiries on shipment status via the system, and provide timely updates to customers.
- Cooperate with department members to ensure work is completed efficiently and maintain high service quality.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on air freight export coordination experience, including routing of shipments, pricing and routing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office and transportation software (industry‑based or proprietary).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays and/or extended hours.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume export department for an air freight forwarder.
- More than 3 years servicing customers in the transportation or logistics industry as a coordinator, shipment router or similar role.
- Good basic math skills.
- Transferrable internal BGS experience in exports, customer service or other operational positions with knowledge of BITS, ATLAS and GARCIA.
- Knowledge of Cargo Wise operating system.
