Senior Operations Manager – Transportation

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead daily transportation operations in Hopewell, NY. This role will oversee drivers, supervisors, safety, customer service, fleet performance, and operational results while driving continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on transportation leader with strong experience managing people, transportation KPIs, DOT compliance, customer relationships, and operating costs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop supervisors, drivers, and frontline operations teams
. - Oversee daily transportation, dispatch, routing, and delivery activities.
- Monitor on-time delivery, productivity, safety, labor, and service KPIs
. - Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and HOS requirements
. - Coach drivers and supervisors on safety, performance, and accountability.
- Manage staffing, labor costs, overtime, and operational expenses.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Address service issues, operational disruptions, and customer escalations.
- Improve route efficiency, fleet utilization, productivity, and service quality.
- Lead continuous-improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
- Ensure a safe, professional, and performance-driven work environment.
- 10+ years of transportation, logistics, fleet, or distribution experience.
- 7+ years of management/supervisory experience
. - Experience managing CDL/Class A drivers preferred.
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and HOS compliance
. - Experience managing transportation KPIs and operational performance.
- Experience with labor, overtime, budgeting, or P&L responsibility.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and retain employees.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
