Mobile Caretaker

Nottinghamshire (Newark and surrounding areas)

£18-£19 per hour

Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

3-month initial contract

We’re working with a housing team to recruit a Mobile Caretaker / Neighbourhood Operative to support estates across Newark. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role where you’ll act as the “eyes and ears” of the estate, helping to maintain safe, clean and well‑managed neighbourhoods. You’ll be part of a supportive housing team, working alongside Housing Officers to engage with tenants and undertake minor maintenance tasks.

No two days are the same – perfect if you enjoy working independently and being out in the community.

Key duties of the Mobile Caretaker / Neighbourhood Operative
  • Drive between estates (van provided – can take home)
  • Carry out regular estate inspections and patrols
  • Report and respond to issues such as:
    • Fly‑tipping
    • Litter and dog fouling
    • General estate condition
  • Put up notices / warning letters where required
  • Speak with residents and support tenancy matters (e.g., access requests like gas checks)
  • Carry out basic DIY (e.g., minor repairs, gates, small fixes)
  • Act as a visible, approachable presence within the community
  • Work closely with housing teams and elevate any concerns
What we’re looking for from the Mobile Caretaker is:
  • Full UK driving licence (ideally clean)
  • Happy working outdoors and travelling between sites
  • Good communication skills – able to speak confidently with residents
  • Reliable, practical and self‑motivated
  • Experience in caretaking, estates or facilities management or housing (desirable)

If you’re looking for a varied, outdoor role where you can make a difference in local communities, we want to hear from you. Please click “apply now” or contact Ebony in the Derby Office at Sellick Partnership.
