Job Title:

Senior HGV Mechanic

Location:

Newark, Nottingham

Salary: £24.00 per hour (Days/Afters) or £27.00 per hour (Nights)

Shift Patterns:
Days/Afters:
Rotating shifts (5:00am 2:00pm / 2:00pm 11:00pm) 45 hours per week Nights:
Monday to Friday, 10:00pm 6:00am Average 40 hours per week

HGV Mechanic Benefits:

Competitive hourly rate of £24.00 or £27.00 per hour depending on shift pattern

Overtime paid at time and a quarter after contracted weekly hours

Retention bonus after qualifying period

£10.00 shift allowance for each afternoon shift worked

100% MOT pass rate bonus scheme

Key Senior HGV Mechanic Responsibilities:

Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults

Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities

Prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT testing and ensure DVSA compliance

Conduct safety inspections and identify defects promptly

Accurately complete maintenance records and workshop documentation

Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard

Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment

Work collaboratively with colleagues to minimise vehicle downtime

Adhere to all company health and safety procedures and industry regulations

Required

Skills & Experience:

Fully qualified HGV Technician with City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent qualification

Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers within a commercial vehicle environment

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems

Excellent understanding of DVSA regulations and vehicle compliance requirements

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

High attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety and quality standards

Own transport essential due to site location
