Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) is a leading integrated manufacturing solutions provider serving the fastest-growing segments of the global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) market. Recognized as a technology leader, Sanmina Corporation provides end-to-end manufacturing solutions, delivering superior quality and support to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) primarily in the communications networks, defense and aerospace, industrial and semiconductor systems, medical, multimedia, computing and storage, automotive and clean technology sectors.
Sanmina Corporation has facilities strategically located in key regions throughout the world.
Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Newark, California facility has 16 years of experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets. We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities: from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms. We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters.
Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing. We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous‑non ferrous and other exotic alloys.
As the CNC Machining Process Engineering Manager, you will be a cornerstone of our plant leadership team. You will lead the design and implementation of complex machining processes for very large, high-precision machined parts using state-of-the-art 4 and 5-axis CNC machines and advanced CAD/CAM tools. In this role, you aren’t just creating CNC programs; you are creating the processes for bringing complex designs to life for the world’s most advanced semiconductor and aerospace companies.
For a leader looking to grow, this position offers exciting day‑to‑day challenges and a path toward Senior Engineering or Operations Management.
- Lead the team: manage resources responsible for CNC programming, work‑holding design, in-process inspection routines, and the creation of accurate routers and work instructions.
- NPI ownership: direct the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure new products meet cost, schedule, and performance specs.
- DFM support: act as a technical consultant to customers, utilizing best‑in‑class tools to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Cost (DFC) feedback.
- Quality by design: own the engineering processes that ensure part quality through robust process design, manual/automated in‑process inspection routines, and strict adherence to production standards.
- Continuous improvement: drive initiatives to reduce cycle times, increase first‑pass yields, minimize setup times and improve machine utilization.
- Data integrity: maintain the accuracy of machining cycle times, manufacturing methods, and production documentation to meet cost and quality targets.
- Problem solving: lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) through structured problem‑solving methods.
- Technology planning and implementation: select and deploy new CNC machinery and material‑handling equipment based on ROI; design plant layouts for optimal flow.
- Mentorship: motivate the engineering team through leadership by example, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- KPI management: develop and maintain departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve organizational performance.
- Experience:
4+ years creating CNC machining processes for very large parts (60" x 60" x 50" or larger). - Leadership: 2+ years directly managing CNC programmers and/or manufacturing engineers.
- Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical work experience. - Technical savvy: expert‑level understanding of 4 and 5‑axis machining and CAD/CAM software tools; proficient user of Excel, PowerPoint, and/or similar tools.
