The
Senior Civil Engineer

- Capital Improvement Projects
(CIPs) will be instrumental in overseeing projects that shape our city’s infrastructure and public spaces. This key role involves planning, designing, and delivering high-quality projects such as roadway improvements, parks enhancements, and utility upgrades. The Senior Civil Engineer will oversee project budgets, schedules, and contracts while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards.

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education/Training:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

Experience:

• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional civil engineering work, including two years of supervisory and project management responsibility.

License:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
• Current registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California.

You should have a proven track record in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide range of
Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs). This includes overseeing construction inspections, contract administration, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. Experience leading teams of engineers, technical staff, construction inspectors, and consultants through the scoping, planning, design, and construction phases is highly desirable.
