About Create Me
Create Me Technologies is bringing advanced industry automation manufacturing methods to the apparel industry. Create Me’s automation technology drives better economic and environmental outcomes, across the board, to the $1.7T apparel industry.
Our technology unlocks onshore, on-demand apparel manufacturing with a unique systems-based approach combining automation hardware, adhesive seam assembly, and proprietary robotic automation software. In short, we make clothes with robots and replace thread with glue.
We have invented a unique automated assembly technique employing digitally-dispensed adhesive methods deployed at high velocity, at cost parity today to overseas manual manufacturing. In the near future we will dramatically outperform off-shore labor rates.
We are revolutionizing how apparel is made close to the consumer with automated manufacturing. We are the first company to truly bring this concept to reality, fully end-to-end, with automation, adhesive, and robotics. Apparel redefined today.
Role OverviewCreate Me is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer specializing in automated manufacturing equipment design to pioneer next-generation apparel assembly equipment at our R&D lab and factory in Newark, CA.
In your highly-collaborative and influential role, you will serve as the Technical Lead for R&D as you work alongside Create Me’s R&D engineers and apparel experts and have a direct impact on product, equipment, and manufacturing systems design. You will have the opportunity to create concepts, prototypes, and production equipment to influence and meet manufacturing requirements for our products. This includes inventing, designing, and prototyping robotic end effectors, product assembly tools, and integrating industrial robots.
We’re looking for team players with the mindset of an inventor, who thrive in a fast-paced environment, think outside the box, and take pride pushing past the edge of a stagnant industry.
The ideal candidate is self-directed and has the essential "lend a hand" teamwork attitude. Good communication skills are critical as you will need to successfully impart your design requirements and technical instructions, collect and present data and observations throughout your experiments, and take every opportunity to teach and learn from one another.
Join us on our exciting journey to redefine the apparel industry!

Design and testing of prototype fixtures and tools
Process development for assembly processes related to automated tooling
Analyze tolerance stacks of assemblies for capability of assembly and fabrication
Validate solutions through engineering analysis and calculations
Quickly develop and assess prototypes and proofs-of-concept designs, taking input from a cross-functional team
Select cost-effective, reliable components for designs
Prepare cost estimates for equipment in the concept stage
Support all phases of equipment development including concept, prototyping, fabrication, assembly, and debug, and partner with the Manufacturing Operations team for effective transfer
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
12+ years with a Bachelor's, or equivalent experience with advanced degrees in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or other related degrees
Significant experience designing manufacturing equipment and automation for assembly including robotic integration in Machine Design, Robotics and/or Automation Engineering Experience as a Technical Lead and cross-functional partner
Knowledge of machine safety standards such as OSHA, ISO, ANSI, etc.
Experience with industrial machinery which requires knowledge in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems used in automated manufacturing
Excellent mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated ability to "tinker" and "hack", either on a professional level or outside of work for hobby or fun
High proficiency using CAD systems such as OnShape, Solidworks, to create 3D models and technical drawings
Experience with a wide variety of part fabrication methods including machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D Printing, plastic parts, composites, surface treatments, etc.
