Systems Engineer
About Us
Queue is the world’s first fully autonomous robotic pharmacy. We transform sealed wholesale bottles into filled, verified prescription vials with zero human involvement. Our mission is to eliminate pharmacy wait times and enable pharmacists to focus on counseling and medication management, while patients receive prescriptions in 60 seconds or less, any time and anywhere.
About the RoleYou will architect a mission‑critical autonomous robotic system and influence decisions at the intersection of hardware, software, business, and customer needs. You will guide cross‑functional teams with a systems lens, using data‑driven analysis to sharpen execution. Together we will scale our robots to high‑volume production and bring reliable pharmacy automation to patients nationwide.
What You Bring- System Architecture & Technical Leadership: Own end‑to‑end architecture, define requirements, interfaces, and performance budgets. Act as the technical integrator across hardware, software, controls, manufacturing, and operations. Resolve ambiguity through structured analysis and clear decision making. Balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and customer/unit‑economic constraints.
- Model‑Driven Tradeoffs: Build and maintain system‑level models for performance, throughput, reliability, and cost. Apply first‑principles reasoning, simulation, and quantitative trade studies to architectural decisions. Update assumptions and margins as manufacturing and field data evolve.
- Scale, Verification & Reliability: Design for high‑volume manufacturing and nationwide deployment, driving system‑level DFM/DFA. Design for variability, serviceability, logistics, and field reliability. Define V&V strategy, lead integration, bring‑up, FMEA, and root‑cause analysis. Hold the bar for safety, uptime, and real‑world robustness.
- Must Have:
- 6+ years of engineering experience on complex products, with a track record of shipping systems that carry real operational and economic consequences.
- Direct robotics experience is not required; candidates from adjacent complex‑systems domains (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical devices, industrial automation) are welcome.
- Deep expertise in system architecture, design trades, requirements definition, and interface design.
- Experience planning and executing V&V campaigns for complex systems.
- Fluency across hardware, software, controls, and operations, with deep knowledge in one or more of: electronics, embedded software, distributed software, mechatronics, or mechanical systems.
- Ability to reason rigorously about cost, scaling, and unit economics.
- First‑principles thinker who is data‑driven, decisive under uncertainty, and operates with high ownership and low ego.
- Nice to Have:
- Experience in safety or mission‑critical industries.
- Experience working directly with customers or regulators during development and delivery.
- Hands‑on experience testing complex electromechanical and software systems in the lab or in the field.
- Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience owning regulatory compliance activities (e.g., IEC, UL, FCC).
- Servant Leadership – Make those around you better.
- Do the Hard Things – Healthcare, hardware, and company building are all hard; we do them anyway.
- Own Your Work – Be accountable. Take pride in your output. Own it fully.
- Default is Now – Act immediately; there’s no better time than today.
- Competitive salary and early‑stage equity.
- Health benefits, 401(k), unlimited PTO.
- Direct patient impact: your code will improve healthcare outcomes for millions.
- High‑visibility role with significant growth potential in a small, trust‑based team.
- Opportunity to work on distributed systems, safety‑critical software, regulatory compliance, and real‑time hardware integration.
