Role OverviewCreate Me is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join the team based in our Newark, CA R&D Innovation Center. You will support our automation team’s pilot manufacturing efforts in the use and maintenance of the novel automated apparel assembly equipment we are building.
This role reports to the Director, Manufacturing Operations. As part of the team, you will join our efforts in breaking down barriers to bring the traditional analogue textile industry into the digital age.
You will play an important role on a foundational team that is developing the future of apparel manufacturing. You have the technical skills, attention to detail, strong communication, and the drive to succeed in a start-up environment building novel technology. This position is paid on an hourly basis, and is eligible for overtime (non-exempt).
This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship; candidates must have full authorization to work in the United States.
This role is onsite in Newark, CA and is not eligible for relocation assistance.
Responsibilities- Support the overall company goals and mission with ad hoc tasks.
- Identify and communicate suggested improvements to processes and equipment.
- Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on various pieces of manufacturing equipment. Identify and document further needed preventive maintenance and services. - Repairs:
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform (or coordinate) repairs. Report any equipment errors and malfunctions to the engineering and manufacturing teams. - Inventory:
Identify and document spare parts and quantity needed to keep in stock in the manufacturing facility. - Assist in conducting training on the use of production equipment.
- Follow quality and safety standards at all times.
- Contribute in the development of the automation process with a viewpoint of quality finished garments from prototypes, samples to pre-production.
- 3-5 years+ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with heavy automation equipment.
- Hands-on experience with maintaining and repairing automated equipment, electro-mechanical equipment, and mechanical prototype fixtures.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical components, such as different types of motors and sensors.
- Significant experience with hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment.
- Willingness to learn new equipment including but not limited to: laser cutters, CNC fabric cutters, adhesive dispensers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to conduct experiments, follow instructions, collect and present data and observations.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to execute work independently. We are scrappy yet supportive, and create solutions both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate is self-directed and can take initial guidance and run with it. Ability to work well in an ambiguous work environment.
