Assistant Store Manager Overview
The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance and store operations. This position will manage the store during the Store Manager’s absence and/or when working opposing shifts.
CompensationPay Range: $16.00 - $20.90 per hour. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation may include annual, quarterly performance bonuses or premiums based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Premiums may be paid at rates ranging per hour in specific circumstances, and multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
Responsibilities- Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
- Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom, including team member execution on customer service programs (Related Sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.).
- Work with the store manager to ensure the retail sales counter is adequately staffed, especially during peak retail business hours (lunch, late‑afternoons, evenings, weekends, etc.).
- Assist the store manager in setting team member goals, providing feedback on goal achievement, coaching/mentoring team members, and ensuring team members remain current on their training.
- Ensure telephone is answered according to company policy.
- Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store‑to‑store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner and contact customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
- Utilize electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
- Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and friendly, issue refunds accurately using correct payment methods, and stage returned merchandise correctly.
- Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before product leaves the store.
- Communicate Zipline messages and delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
- Ensure all team members comply with company policies, adhere to posted work schedule, obtain required approvals for changes, and clock in/out correctly.
- Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day‑end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring night security lights are on, locking doors, arming/disarming security alarms, and checking delivery vehicles.
- Assist the store manager in maintaining the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in‑store test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Required:
Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification, and RSS Certification. - Desired:
Certified Parts Professional Certification; ASE Certification. - Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
