For over 90 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.

This position supports the development and effective operation of quality school‑age childcare centers in compliance with Delacare rules.

Under the supervision of the Childcare or Program Director, the youth worker assists with the development and effective operation of a quality school‑age childcare program that complies with current Delacare rules for school‑age centers.

• Perform all job responsibilities in compliance with current state licensing requirements for school‑age childcare centers and address non‑compliance issues as needed.
• Assist the Childcare or Program Director in effectively delivering a variety of age‑appropriate programs and activities that reflect Boys & Girls Club’s five core program areas and Youth Development Strategy for children ages 6–12.
• Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities, including assessing equipment and facilities, age‑appropriateness, ability levels, weather, and supplies.
• Assist the Childcare or Program Director in supervising children within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and applicable state licensing regulations.
• Maintain productive relationships with parents, school faculty, administrators, staff, and other visitors to the Club.
• Present yourself as a positive role model for children at all times.
• Adhere consistently to the policies and practices of BGCDE OCCL and Delaware STARS.
• Contribute toward the development of a positive identity and strong presence for the Boys & Girls Club in the community.
• Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed or directed.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a School Age Site Assistant Certificate.

• 20 years of age or older with the ability to drive an 8‑passenger van (valid driver’s license with less than 5 points).
• First Aid/CPR Certification, or completion within two months of hire.
• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Certificate from the Department of Education.

• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Administrator certificate from the Department of Education.
• 20 years of age or older with the ability to drive an 8‑passenger van (valid driver’s license with less than 5 points).
• First Aid/CPR Certification, or completion within two months of hire.

All levels must be able to pass an FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per Dela Care regulations.

Conditions vary from indoors to outdoors, with various meeting locations in and out of the Club and occasional statewide travel (e.g., training). Employees may be transferred between departments, clubs, or school sites as organizational needs change.

• Maintain a high energy level.
• Be comfortable working with children ages 6–12 in varying levels of physical activity.
• Frequently lift, carry, or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.
• Frequently bend, stoop, walk, and sometimes run while interacting with children throughout the day.
• Make decisions quickly and accurately under stressful conditions with tact and impartiality.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Monday–Friday.

Medical Benefits – Part‑time employees who meet the following criteria are eligible: one year of service averaging 30 hours per week.

Vision & Dental – eligibility after one year of service averaging 25 hours per week.
