Aboutthe Role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you support the Project Manager and ensure projects stay under budget while exceeding client expectations. You act as the liaison between the general contractor, the general manager, and the superintendents. Your responsibilities include generating progress reports, processing change orders, billing for work, coordinating material ordering and delivery, and communicating any challenges that may affect project timelines.
Before a project begins, you assist in evaluating the contractual scope of work and place material orders in a timely manner. You proactively run reports and provide them to the Project Manager to ensure project timelines and profitability metrics are met. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills help establish strong relationships with Sobieski teams and external contractors, promoting a win‑win environment for everyone.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture OR an associate degree with equivalent work‑related experience
- 0‑3 years of direct project experience in the construction industry
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, including their design, architecture, interoperability with other proprietary systems, sequences of operation, networking, and communication methodology
- Knowledge of project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Spitfire
- Familiarity with financial accounting systems
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Writer, and Visio
- Valid driver’s license
Project management professional (PMP), construction quality control (USACE CQM‑C), and OSHA 30 certifications are preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and the tenacity to meet deadlines are also essential.
