Role

Description:

The Audio Visual Technician at the University Student Centers plays a crucial role in supporting the audio‑visual needs for a wide range of events, meetings, and activities held within the Student Centers. This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for technology and audio‑visual systems, offering an opportunity to provide essential, high‑quality support on a daily basis. The USC Audio/Visual Technician is dedicated to ensuring exceptional service and helping clients achieve the success of their events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment such as projectors, soundboards, microphones, speakers, and lighting systems for events.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients, event coordinators, and team members to ensure all expectations are met.
  • Help create a positive and professional atmosphere by providing top‑notch client service to event attendees and organizers.
  • Clean and store equipment properly after events, ensuring its safety and readiness for future use.
  • Work alone or with others as needed, maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of AV equipment and coordinate repair of faulty equipment, ensuring minimal disruption.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting audio‑visual equipment.
  • Knowledge of audio‑visual technology, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, and video displays.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and/or mornings as needed.
  • Certifications or training in audio‑visual technology are a plus.
  • Must be available for one weekday morning/afternoon shift per week.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs on your own without assistance.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.

  • This is a part‑time position compensated on a bi‑weekly basis.
  • Training may be provided to qualified candidates.
