Trauma Surgeon

Christiana Care is recruitinga Trauma Surgeon to join a collegial group of 13 fellowship-trained Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgeons at our Level 1 Trauma Center in Newark, Delaware.

• Board-certified in General surgery
• Board-eligible or certified in Surgical Critical Care.
• Preference for applicants to participate in call and rotational coverage of the Trauma, Emergency General Surgery (EGS), and Surgical Critical Care services.
• Interest and participation in the education of medical students, residents, and surgical critical care/acute care surgery fellows.
• Preference for candidates to be interested in surgical research

Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, is part of the Christiana Care Health System, a Magnet® non-profit health care organization, with over 1,200 beds between three hospitals (Christiana, Wilmington, and Union Campuses). It is the only Level I trauma center on the East Coast corridor situated between Philadelphia and Baltimore with a wide catchment area that draws from PA, NJ, MD and DE.

We also serve as the tertiary referral center for the state of Delaware. The Trauma Program has over 5000 unique patient contacts per year, while EGS has nearly 4000. Our 22-bed Surgical Critical Care Complex maintains a high census. Christiana Care has been honored repeatedly for quality of care by multiple organizations.

Annual Compensation Range $ - $The above compensation range represents Christiana Care’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting for full-time hours in the respective specialty. The actual compensation within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation the fair market value for physician services in the relevant specialty and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, credentials, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.

The compensation range listed may encompass various forms of applicable compensation for this position, including, but not limited to, productivity incentives, value-based incentives and other ancillary forms of compensation dependent upon operational factors such as hours worked, call coverage and other factors. Christiana Care will offer compensation at an appropriate point within the above range or, less frequently, may offer a level of compensation outside the listed range as warranted by the circumstances.
