DIOCESE OF WILMINGTON, DE - PRINCIPAL
CHRIST THE TEACHER CATHOLIC SCHOOL (CTTCS), Newark, DE seeks qualified applicants for the position of PRINCIPAL beginning July 1, 2026. This diocesan, regional Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 school, serving 630 students, is sponsored by four local parishes:
Holy Family, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Joseph (Middletown), and St. Margaret of Scotland. The school is strong in Catholic Identity and in 2022 became an affiliated member of Mercy Education, strengthening their commitment to the Mercy charism of the school and its four pillars - Mercy, Hospitality, Service, and Excellence. CTTCS provides a rigorous academic program with state-of-the-art technology and diversified co-curricular and extra-curricular programs.

Situated on 40 acres, the school and grounds are multi-functional with 68,000 square feet of classroom space arranged in ways that accommodate its students’ various learning styles, including the addition of the McAuley Learning Center (MLC) in 2021. The program, named for Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy and the patroness of CTTCS, provides individualized academic accommodations and action/support plans for students who qualify.

Students at CTTCS have a proven record of excellence; graduates of CTTCS receive scholarships in highly competitive high schools and win numerous club and athletic awards. The school has received numerous awards and recognitions since its opening in 2002, including National Blue Ribbon of Excellence, Anti-defamation League’s “No Place for Hate,” Innovations in Catholic Education, and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

The principal works closely with the pastors of supporting parishes, the diocesan Catholic Schools Office, two assistant principals, a faculty and staff of 68, and a school advisory board to provide high standards of excellence in a safe and welcoming environment in order to lay the foundation for the spiritual and academic growth of CTTCS saints and scholars.

• Live as a practicing Catholic
• Hold an advanced degree (master’s or higher) from an accredited institution in an area of study that supports the role/responsibilities of the position
• Have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary school level (Catholic school experience as a teacher/administrator preferred)
• Hold or be eligible for Delaware or Maryland licensing/certification (Catholic Theology or Ministry degree is exempt from this requirement)
