About the department / center:UD's College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI) program is led by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Role

Description:

The College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI) is seeking current undergraduate students who want toprovide high school students, especially those from first-generation and/or income limited backgrounds, with an immersive pre-collegiate experience that will transform the way in which they understand a collegiate environment. We seek students who can serve as exemplary role models and have demonstrated the ability to successfully navigate their college experience to date.

Our team is looking for undergraduate students who value serving students, diversity, teamwork, respect, and harmony, and are looking for summer positions that will provide purpose and impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

Peer Staff Positions:

Academics:
Responsible for escorting students to breakfast, their academic sessions, and to lunch; monitoring assigned classes and assisting the classroom instructor. Provides individualized and group academic support, completes related reports, attends staff meetings as scheduled. Monitors structured study in the residence hall.

Interpersonal:
Responsible for escorting students from lunch to their career & interpersonal sessions, to fitness hour to dinner. Responsible for assisting the professional staff member in a variety of related interpersonal skill workshops and ongoing seminars. Staff will be expected to address large and small groups of students, disseminate information, and interact with administrators across the campus.

Residential:
Responsible for general programming of the residence hall and the constructive opportunities time period. Also, programming staff provides residence hall security (curfew and overnight monitoring of hall), attends staff meetings as scheduled, and completes basic reports.

Peer Staff are required:

  • To live in the residence hall for the duration of the program- all positions are residential.
  • Carry out program policies and rules to ensure student safety, health, wellness, and compliance with UD’s protection of minors policies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the team throughout the day via group chat and provide support with assigned tasks as needed.

Cultivate a positive and inclusive community through program activities and interactions with scholars.

  • Effectively plan and market engaging evening and weekend activities
  • Residential team:
    Provide residence hall security (curfewand overnight monitoring of hall), attends staff meetings as scheduled, and completes basic reports.

Qualifications:

  • 2.5+ GPA
  • Interest and/or experience working with students from first-generation and/or income-limited backgrounds
  • Candidates with at least 1 year of experience in positions such as resident assistants, camp counselors, peer mentors, tutors, etc. are preferred. Candidates will be placed in either the Academic, Interpersonal, or Residential component based on their experience, interest, and needs of the program.
