Position: Permanent Substitute Teacher

Position:
Permanent Substitute Teacher (Full‑Time Faculty Employee) – FLSA Exempt.

Location:

The Independence School. The position is a 10‑month role following the academic calendar.

Role Overview: A student‑centered educator who maintains consistent education when other teachers are unavailable. Works closely with school leaders and the Academic Administrative Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform teaching duties for ages three through eighth grade across subjects including PE, music, art, world language, math, language arts, etc.
  • Coordinate classroom placement and tasks with school leaders and the Academic Administrative Coordinator.
  • Lead students to live the mission fully and inspire community respect, responsibility, and integrity.
  • Actively participate in school life and pursue professional development.
  • Support school and teachers on days not assigned to a classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; understanding of child development.
  • Lifelong learner who enhances skills using technology.
  • Excellent time‑management, ability to switch between tasks, prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Aptitude to learn new systems, software, and platforms including student information systems.
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace, Google Classroom, and a Windows/Chrome OS environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.

Employment type:

Full‑time faculty employee; exempt under FLSA.
