Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Newark, Delaware

Here's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in an engaging educational environment near Newark, DE. This contracted position allows you to work directly with students, families, and a collaborative team of educators to ensure every child receives the specialized instruction and advocacy they deserve.

Qualifications:
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other modes of communication utilized by students (e.g., cued speech, oral, total communication)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Commitment to inclusion and adapting instruction for diverse learners
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to students' communication needs and IEP goals
  • Assess students' progress, adjusting strategies to support academic and social development
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, families, and school staff
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and interpreters
  • Facilitate communication access in classroom and school settings
  • Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and maintain thorough records
  • Participate in IEP meetings and professional development activities
