Preferred Qualifications and

Experience:
  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
  • Experience with braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum resources
  • Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, educators, and families
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
  • Assess students' needs and adapt instructional materials to enhance accessibility
  • Develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications for classroom activities
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP planning and reviews
  • Provide support and resources to classroom teachers and staff regarding best practices for students with visual impairments
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and timely communication with families
