About the Department:

CEAE is housed within the Department of Applied Economics and Statistics (APEC). Our mission is to nurture a diverse and inclusive community engaged in innovative, evidence-based research that informs policy and promotes sustainability of the intersection of agriculture and the environment. CEAE-supported research primarily involves economic experiments in the laboratory and field, designed to better understand and address real-world economic, environmental, and policy challenges.

Role

Description:

Interns will help explore big questions related to food, farming, the environment, and coastal resilience. You’ll work with a supportive team to learn how research happens—by helping collect information, talk to people, and organize findings. Along the way, you’ll build your résumé, receive mentorship, and create your own project.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Compiling literature reviews and background research
  • Assisting with experiment data collection and lab setup
  • Administrative or logistical support for research operations
  • Program support for the CEAE Mentoring Network
  • Attend weekly check-ins with CEAE faculty and staff for ongoing guidance and progress updates
  • Develop a research project that will be exhibited at CEAE’s Ag Day booth in April 2027
  • Communicating their experience in the program through outreach activities
Qualifications:

Applicants must be a first- or second-year UD student enrolled for Fall 2026 with a declared undergraduate major in Environmental & Resource Economics (ENRE), Food & Agribusiness Marketing (FABM), or Statistics (STAT). Candidates should demonstrate an interest in applied research and data-driven problem solving, be available for work at Townsend Hall, and commit to 8–10 hours per week during the academic year.
