Full time position
The Director of Children and Youth Ministries (DCYM) is responsible for providing ministries for children and students, elementary school through high school age.
The DCYM will, among other responsibilities: develop curricula and programming for children and students; engage in outreach with local schools and youth programs; leading, overseeing, and participating in youth programming; and communicate with families and the Head of Staff regarding programming. The DCYM position is a full-time salaried position. While the hours for this position are flexible, the responsibilities are fulfilled primarily on-site.
The nature of the DCYM’s responsibilities require working some evenings and every Sunday.
- Oversee the following programs:
- Children’s Ministry:
- Provide a children’s message during service on Sundays
- Sunday School classes for children age 13 and under
- Vacation Bible School and other summer programming to be developed
- Arrange for summer camp at local Christian youth camps
- Easter egg hunt
- Amplify (Children’s mid-week program)
- Recruit and train volunteers for children’s ministries
- Other children’s programs
- Student Ministries:
- All Access (Sunday evening ministry)
- Fall and winter Retreats
- School campus contacts
- Student mission trips (one for junior high school and one for high school)
- Student service projects
- Children’s Ministry:
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Plan and lead one or more monthly meetings with Session-appointed committee overseeing children’s ministry and student ministries.
- Monthly communication with families and lay leaders through various media, including but not limited to email, flyers, The Messenger (church monthly newsletter), and text (via Church Teams).
- Maintain and administer budgets for children’s and student ministries.
- Recruit and train volunteers for children’s ministry and student ministry programming.
- Implement child safety policies adopted by Session or required under applicable law, including overseeing background checks for volunteers.
- Integrate families into the wider life and ministries of the church.
- Complete training as directed by Session or Head of Staff.
