Position: Assistant Pastor for Youth and Families

Purpose:

To exercise and oversee ministry to youth (6th grade-12th grade) and shepherd families of EP church.

Responsibilities:

Youth

Teaching, Relational Evangelism, and Discipleship – The primary role of the Pastor for Youth and Families will be to teach, evangelize, and disciple the youth of our church and community, pointing them to Jesus Christ through sharing God’s Word, building relationships, and developing Christian community within the youth group. This will involve pursuing and enfolding covenant youth, as well as youth from our community.

Vision and Program Implementation – Continue the work of implementing a youth ministry vision in line with the vision and culture of EP Church in cooperation with the Session and staff. Maintain and build programs and ministry structures that flow out of and support this vision. Programs will include but are not limited to:
Sunday School, Youth Group meetings, Small Group Discipleship, twice monthly fellowship events, service events, outreach event (Sports Camp), Summer mission trips, and semi-annual retreats (Spring & Fall).

Parent Consultation and Support – Actively pursue relationships with parents and guardians to offer encouragement and training to support them in their call to raise children in the Lord.

Program Administration – Provide administrative oversight to the Youth Ministry through volunteer recruitment and delegation, budgeting, curriculum selection, publicity, database maintenance, and the development and implementation of policies necessary to ensure the safety, and spiritual growth of youth.

Leadership Development— Recruit, screen, train, and resource youth ministry volunteers. This oversight is to be ongoing, not merely initiatory. Maintain and grow youth leadership program (Student Shepherds) to train students to be leaders for Christ in the youth group and in their own personal community.

Other—

Attend weekly Staff meetings

Assisting in worship (twice a month)

Occasional preaching (6-8 times a year)

Welcome new visitors on Sunday morning

Attend Session and Presbytery meetings if ordained
