Responsibilities

  • To provide R&D laboratory support for the development of improved next generation fluorochemical processes and products.
  • To conduct a variety of tests to understand the flammability properties of neat refrigerants and blends, foam expansion agents, specialty fluids, etc. These tests encompass both standardized and novel tests under simulated process and application conditions.
  • To interface with colleagues in TSS R&D and Technical Service organization to set the objectives and priorities for the various tests. To provide data to guide research programs, to support patent applications, as well as to address technical questions by our external customers.
  • To plan and conduct experiments independently, collect necessary data, organize/record the data, share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with minimal guidance from supervision.
  • To blend, package, and consolidate various refrigerants and specialty products keeping strict adherence to safety, environmental and quality aspects.
  • Lifting and moving refrigerants and other raw materials up to 55lb with appropriate safety and ergonomics consideration may be involved in standard work.
  • To ensure the various laboratory measurement systems are in good working condition and to make upgrades as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • College bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science or similar degree
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer
  • Strong mechanical ability to set up, maintain, fix and troubleshoot lab equipment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work well with all levels in the organization
  • Self‑motivated, customer focused and ability to independently achieve results
  • Ability to work in teams and work in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving/troubleshooting and data analysis skills
  • Demonstrated skills in multitasking and planning/organizing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years or more of post‑degree experience performing technical tasks in a manufacturing facility, R&D or analytical testing lab or similar setting
  • Experience in combustion testing/research, fire safety, or related areas in HVAC&R, chemical, or automotive industries
  • Experience with handling gaseous reagents and highly hazardous materials such as HF and HCl
  • Familiarity with UL, ASHRAE, ASTM, and ISO flammability classification methods
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and other statistical techniques

Pay and Incentives

Chemours Level: 23

Annual Bonus Target: 6%
