What to expect
As a Senior Smart Lab Architect and Project Manager for Laboratory Construction, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and execution of laboratory projects. You will work closely with clients, specialist planners, contractors and authorities to ensure that all lab projects meet the highest standards of functionality, safety, and efficiency.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a keen understanding of laboratory environments.
Your responsibilitiesYour responsibilities include:
- Manage and oversee laboratory construction projects for renowned clients in the life sciences, food industry, and research across all HOAI service phases (LPH 1-9) and special SLA services outside of HOAI.
- Work on laboratory construction projects in new buildings, existing buildings or modular buildings.
- Advise clients, plan, coordinate and monitor projects independently in close consultation with users, clients, property and specialist planners – ideally in accordance with AHO Booklet 9, ensuring that requirements are met in terms of quality, deadlines and costs.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for laboratory construction projects and are responsible for a regulated project process.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution from initial concept through to final completion.
- Organise and lead project meetings and construction meetings, coordinate the use of subcontractors, accompany acceptance procedures and provide support with defect and claims management and construction site documentation.
- Degree in civil engineering, industrial engineering, project engineering or architecture or have a comparable qualification.
- Proven experience in the planning, design, and execution of laboratory construction projects or technically complex construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards (e.g., AHO, HOAI, VOB).
- Familiar with the special requirements for laboratory and research buildings and their technical building equipment.
- Excellent project management and coordination skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain effective client relationships.
- High degree of customer orientation, service readiness, and flexibility.
- Fluent in both German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible in terms of time and enjoy travelling to construction projects.
