This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both large, regional design-build interstate projects throughout the mid-Atlantic and Southeast US, as well as impactful local projects. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, leveraging advanced design tools, and help deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that shape the future of transportation.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform detailed and routine engineering assignments, including calculations, technical analyses, and design tasks for highway and roadway projects.
  • Gather and correlate engineering data using established procedures; identify discrepancies and propose solutions using modifications of standard methods.
  • Develop design criteria, horizontal/vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, spot elevation details, and pavement designs.
  • Oversee the development of signing, pavement marking plans, construction phasing, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, identify utility conflicts, and resolve issues through interdisciplinary reviews and client feedback.
  • Prepare construction specifications, quantities, cost estimates, technical reports, and 3D models using Bentley Open Roads Designer, Micro Station, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures; complete technical reviews and contribute to project staffing decisions.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level engineers; contribute to proposals and presentations for new work.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment and proactively seeking process improvements.

Regional project highlights:

  • Pennsylvania: I-95 Reconstruction (Philadelphia), US-22 Widening (Allentown), I-81 Reconstruction (Scranton), I-80 and I-70 Rural Interstate Upgrades
  • Delaware: Suburban arterial and interchange realignments, bridge replacements and intersection improvements from our Newark DE office.
  • West Virginia: Opportunity to support projects from our Morgantown office and collaborate on major interstate and local roadway improvements including our Safe Streets for All program in Bluefield.
  • Regional Impact: Support large-scale, alternative delivery and design-build projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, including multi-state interstate corridors teaming with other AECOM offices in the US.
