Bailiff

Position

The City of Newark Aldermans Court #40 is looking for a part‑time bailiff to support its daily operations. This position will report to the Clerk of the Court and assist the Alderman with the needs within and during court sessions as well as the general facilitation of entry to the City of Newark Municipal Complex.

The position will average 10‑20 hours of work per week. The starting hourly rate is $24.16 and the role includes paid vacation, holidays, and earned sick time.

• Check in customers using a metal detector and Rapiscan.
• Maintain decorum.
• Assist the Clerk and Alderman on other tasks as required.
• Remain armed while performing duties.

• Retired Delaware police officer.
• Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain annual firearms certification, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, and Taser certification.
• Other demonstrated combinations of experience and training will be considered.
