We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team at Christiana Care Hospital. The APP will provide comprehensive, family‑centered care to critically ill and premature newborns in a high‑acuity, Level III NICU setting. In collaboration with neonatologists, nurses, and a multidisciplinary team, the APP will perform advanced clinical assessments, initiate and manage treatment plans, and contribute to ongoing quality improvement and clinical excellence.

What You Will Do- Assess the complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patient for urgent and emergent conditions using relevant data to evaluate for physiological instability.
- Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems per the Scope of Practice Document and credentialing/privileging process.
- Analyze the indications, contraindications, risk of complications, and cost‑benefits of therapeutic interventions.
- Manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient’s response to therapy, focusing on optimizing outcomes.
- Incorporate health promotion, protection, and injury prevention measures into the plan of care within the context of complex acute, critical, and chronic illness.
- Facilitate the patient’s transitions between and within health‑care settings.
- Serve as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including research and education, and maintain required competencies through ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient safety, speaking up about safety issues and sharing errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.
- Bachelor's Degree – Physician Assistant (required)
- Master's Degree – Physician Assistant (preferred)
- Master’s Degree – Nursing (required)
- Ability to work in an inter‑professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
- Proficient use of computer and electronic medical records.
- Basic use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web browsing.
- Effective use of shared network file space and patient‑facing technology (IV pumps, point‑of‑care devices, CR monitors).
- Navigation and use of clinical communication systems and electronic health record.
- Information management literacy and clinical decision support tool use.
- Understanding of policies, procedures, confidentiality, security, and privacy regulations related to clinical information systems.
- Ability to collect clinical data using quality improvement tools.
- Registered Nurse (Delaware) – Delaware State Licensing Board (upon hire – required)
- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Delaware) – Delaware State Licensing Board (upon hire – required)
- Prescriptive Authority (Delaware) – Delaware State Licensing Board (within 3 months – required)
- Specialty Certification in area of education/subspecialty (required – upon hire)
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) (Delaware) – Delaware State Licensing Board (upon hire – required)
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (upon hire – required)
