Position Summary

Full‑time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) position available with 8‑hour shifts, including every other weekend and holiday, floating units. A 2‑week orientation is mandatory, 8:30 AM–5 PM.

This rewarding role provides direct patient care to geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and children with psychiatric disorders to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Location

Rockford Center is a 138‑bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE. It offers inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in Delaware.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor unit patients and complete rounds as assigned
  • Participate in treatment planning
  • Assist in the admission process
  • Orient new patients to the unit and their program
  • Plan and prepare for group therapy sessions

    Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or similar previous experience with adults in a behavioral health setting. Strong communication skills, excellent customer service and organization skills, highly effective listening skills, and strong clinical skills.
  • Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • CPR certification and Completion of Handle with Care training during orientation process.
