- Full Time Flex 72 hours biweekly Shift - Evening/Midnight (7p-7:30a)
- 12‑Hour shifts, every third weekend, every other holiday
- Newark Hospital location
Supports care of newly delivered mothers and their newborns, and includes family/support persons in care.
Duties include:
performing and accurately recording vital signs, accu‑checks (finger and heel sticks), newborn bathing/testing, feeding/changing, mobilizing patients out of bed, and maintaining the environment of care.
Requires strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with nursing and provider colleagues to provide interdisciplinary care. Also performs clerical duties to support unit flow, capacity management, and admission/discharge workflows.
Primary FunctionThe PCT II supports activities of daily living under RN supervision. Provides care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Duties include:
vital signs, accu‑checks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobilizing patients, and supporting nursing staff with clerical tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides care appropriate to patients across developmental stages.
- Performs assigned nursing duties for patient comfort and well‑being.
- Responds to patient crises, initiates interventions within scope, and notifies RN.
- Performs finger sticks following laboratory safety policies.
- Performs point‑of‑care instrumentation procedures.
- Responds promptly, empathetically, and with interest to patient needs.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with patients, employees, and physicians.
- Demonstrates computer proficiency in order entry, admission, discharge, transfer, and test ordering.
- Maintains charts per CCHS guidelines and coordinates unit supply maintenance.
- Documents accurately and legibly, signs transcribed orders, and records appropriate data.
- Completes mandatory in‑service education.
- Performs work safely, reports hazards or safety violations to a supervisor promptly.
- Assists with patient transfers between units and unit discharge.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One or more of the following:
- Previous patient care experience, including taking vital signs.
- Nursing student who has completed clinical hours or a CNA program.
- Acceptance into a Christiana Care approved Patient Care Technician training program.
- Two years clerical or related experience (preferred).
- BCLS Certification required.
Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 – $27.69
